Every Karp access door, roof hatch and floor door is designed to install without special tools, but the detail differs by model and by the surface it is going into — a fire-rated door in a shaft wall is not installed the same way as a drywall ceiling panel. The documents below cover each product family, and the training videos walk through the sequence step by step. Installing to these instructions is what keeps fire ratings, acoustic ratings and warranties valid.

Do I follow the shaft wall instructions or the standard fire-rated instructions?
Use the shaft wall document whenever the door is being installed in a rated shaft wall assembly. The fixing pattern and the sequence differ from a standard rated wall.
Will a non-standard installation void the fire rating?
Yes. A fire-rated door carries its rating only when installed in the tested assembly, using the specified fixings and sequence. If the site condition does not match the instructions, call us before improvising.
