Tile Access Doors
Keeping grout lines unbroken across a service opening
A tiled wall makes an access panel obvious. Grout lines run in a grid, and anything interrupting that grid reads immediately, which is why a painted steel door in a tiled restroom or kitchen wall looks like an afterthought. A tile access door removes the problem by taking the tile itself as its face.
How tile infill works on the DSC-210
The DSC-210 recessed access door for tile has a panel recess that accepts all makes and types of tile up to 1 inch thick, fitted snugly into the recess. The tiler sets the tile into the panel as part of the run, so the grout lines carry across the door and the only interruption is the perimeter joint. Standard sizes are 12 x 12, 18 x 18, 24 x 12, 24 x 24 and 36 x 24 inches.
Latch options are a RIM cylinder lock with night latch, a spanner head lock where a tamper-proof fixing is needed in a public restroom, or a cylinder lock for straightforward keyed access.
Stainless steel finishes and the KATR fire resistant ceiling door
Type 304 stainless steel is available with a No. 4 satin finish, which is the right specification for wet and hygienic areas: healthcare, pharmaceutical plants, laboratories and food processing, where corrosion resistance and easy cleaning are the point.
The KATR recessed fire resistant ceiling door covers tiled or finished ceilings where fire resistance is required as well as a concealed face. Where the assembly carries a formal rating, confirm the listing on the spec sheet against the rating required at that location before specifying.
Made in the USA, standard sizes on a 72-hour turnaround.
