KRVB Recessed Valve Box

The KRVB is a recessed valve box: a steel box set into the wall with an access door, housing shutoff valves, gauges and controls so they can be reached without opening up the wall and are protected once the door is closed. Recessed means the box sits inside the wall cavity rather than on the face of the wall, which is the choice for corridors, public areas and finished rooms where a box that projects from the wall would be knocked or look out of place.

Made around the valve arrangement

Karp drills or punches the box for pipes and conduits of all sizes, so it arrives ready for the runs it has to take rather than being cut on site. Size the box from the valve and its handle, not from the pipe. The box needs enough clear space inside for the handle to travel through its full swing, and that is a bigger box than most people estimate from the pipe diameter. Door options

The door can be supplied with louvers, a peephole or a glass panel. A glass panel or peephole lets someone read a gauge or check a valve position without opening the box. Louvers let air move through the box where the space behind the door should not be sealed.

Recessed or surface mounted

Choose the recessed KRVB where the wall has the depth to take the box. Where it does not, for example on a masonry wall, a shallow partition or an existing finished wall that should not be opened up, the KSMB surface mounted valve box fixes to the face of the wall instead.

Before specifying

Check the wall depth against the box, including anything else running in the cavity. If the wall is fire rated, confirm how the rating will be maintained before specifying a recessed box, because the box interrupts the wall construction. Label the box for the service it isolates at commissioning, so the right valve can be found quickly during a leak.
