Standard Access Doors
When a non-rated access door is the right choice
Most service openings do not need a rating, a gasket or a security lock. They need a door that fits the surface, opens when someone needs it and looks finished when it is closed. That is what the standard range covers, and it is where the majority of projects land.
The five standard models: DSC-214M, KDW, PF, SM and HA
The DSC-214M is the flush door for all surfaces and the most configurable model Karp builds: 24 standard sizes from 6 x 6 through 48 x 24, available in Type 304 stainless steel with a No. 4 satin finish or in aluminum where a lightweight, rust-resistant door is wanted. Options include a plexiglass vision panel, louver, safety chains for ceiling installations, double leaf configuration, masonry straps and a 1/16 by 3/8 inch neoprene gasket for a tighter seal.
The KDW is the flush door for drywall surfaces. The PF press-fit drywall panel installs by bending the tabs on the return back to grip the drywall, with frame, return and doorstop in one-piece construction and a beveled frame, in five sizes from 8 x 8 through 24 x 24. The SM surface mounted door sits proud of the surface where recessing is not practical. The HA is a plastic door for light-duty and damp locations.
Nine latch options and how to choose one
The DSC-214M alone offers nine latching options: mortise lock, RIM cylinder lock with night latch, spanner head lock, allen head lock, knob turn latch, keyless paddle latch, T-handle latch, detention lock and cylinder lock. Spanner and allen head are the tamper-resistant choices for public areas. Knob turn suits a plant room where a key is a nuisance.
Standard sizes are made in the USA and ship on a 72-hour turnaround.
